About the Echeveria Ice Green sp.

The Echeveria Ice Green sp. is a hybrid variation of the Echeveria Ice Green, retaining its parent's thick leaves while featuring a rounder leaf shape. Sporting a translucent light green base with a delicate layer of farina, this succulent displays intricate patterns and designs as it matures, with leaf tips gradually blushing pink under stress. Its overall appearance exudes a crystalline clarity, resembling more art than a living succulent.

How to Care for Echeveria Ice Green sp.

Sunlight: Provide ample direct or indirect sunlight, similar to caring for jade plants. Optimal conditions include outdoor placement or positioning near windows with at least 8 hours of indirect sunlight. Insufficient light may result in a green hue; patience is required for desired pink tones.

Temperature: Like most Echeveria varieties, the Ice Green sp. thrives in temperatures ranging from 5°C to 35°C (41°F to 95°F). Cooler temperatures induce stress colors. During spring and autumn, outdoor cultivation is recommended to enhance coloration, with temperature differentials accentuating orange jelly-like hues and emphasizing dark markings. Note that the Ice Green sp. is not frost-tolerant; move indoors during frosty weather to prevent leaf damage.

Watering: Careful watering is crucial to prevent leaf transparency, melting, or root rot. Despite its thick leaves' water-retaining capacity, water thoroughly only when the potting soil is completely dry, typically every 10 days during the growing season. Reduce watering in summer, opting for a gentle morning watering using a narrow spout watering can around the pot's edges. Ensure adequate ventilation post-watering.

Soil and Pot: Opt for well-draining soil mix, comprising 30% peat moss and 70% gritty soil, suitable for this petite succulent. Use a pot with drainage holes, approximately 1.5 times larger than the plant, to maintain optimal conditions and prevent over-potting issues.

Propagation: Leaf propagation is possible but challenging, with varying success rates. To increase chances, select soft leaves from the Ice Green sp., ensuring intact bud points. Place leaves in a clean container for air or water propagation until roots develop, then transplant into soil.

Winter shipping

We insist on shipping succulents to our customers all year round. However due to the extreme winter weather, although we pack succulents with as much protective material as possible, plants are still at increased risk of frost on their way to colder areas. We highly recommend adding one 72-hour heat pack to your order or you can request a hold on the package until it warms up.

Please note that The Next Gardener is not responsible for packages that suffer cold damage without a heat pack. We cannot control the weather. Order at your own risk.

Hawaii, Alaska, and Other US Territories

Fortunately, shipping is available to Alaska, Guam, and other U.S. Territories. However, due to numerous factors beyond our control, including customs checks and shipping delays, free shipping to Hawaii and Puerto Rico is not an option. And we can not provide the 14-day quality guarantee for orders going to Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The buyer will assume all risk of damage when a delivery is delayed. We appreciate your understanding.
