Echeveria Qiandao Lake
About Echeveria Qiandao Lake
Echeveria Qiandao Lake is a new rare rosette succulent that originates from Korea. Its spoon-shaped leaves have distinct white lines with sharp, graceful tips. With the right amount of sunlight and temperature stress, the rosette will become more compact and its lime green leaves will turn red from the tips, giving them a unique and precious appearance similar to bloody jelly.
How to Care for Echeveria Qiandao Lake
Sunlight: For Echeveria Qiandao Lake to thrive all year round, it needs to be placed in an area that receives bright to full sunlight. If you want to see rare bloody red, it is recommended to grow this succulent outside, as long as the planter has drainage holes, and let it soak up the full sunlight. However, during the scorching summer months, it is advisable to limit direct sunlight exposure, as it can burn the leaves and leave unsightly marks.
Temperature: Qiandao Lake is a type of Echeveria succulent that thrives in temperatures ranging from 40℉ to 77℉. However, it can handle brief periods of high temperatures if it is placed in a well-circulated environment. If the temperature drops below 32℉, it is recommended to bring this succulent indoors or provide it with warm protection.
Soil: For a proper drainage soil mix, combine regular potting soil, gritty rocks, perlite, and tree barks in a ratio of 4:2:2:2. In areas or seasons with high rainfall, increasing the amount of gritty rocks in the soil is necessary to prevent fungus pests and avoid the death of succulents due to drowning.
Water: To take care of your succulents, use the "soak and dry" method. Only water the soil when it is completely dry. It is advisable to adjust the water frequency depending on the season and your location. During summer and winter, reduce the amount of water or even no watering altogether.
Propagation: Leaf propagation works for this cute Echeveria plant. Twist a complete leaf off and let the cut callus over. If you want to know more details, you may need this blog:
