Echeveria Agavoides 'Blue Dragon'
About Echeveria Agavoides 'Blue Dragon'
Echeveria Agavoides 'Blue Dragon' is a plant with thick foliage that has a distinct bulge in the middle of the back of each leaf and bright red tips. The leaves are tightly arranged and form a lovely rosette. The greenish color of the leaves contrasts with the short, bright red color, and the leaves of Echeveria Agavoides 'Blue Dragon' also form deep red blood spots, giving the plant a mysterious aesthetic.
How to care for Echeveria Agavoides 'Blue Dragon'
Sun/Temperature: The Echeveria Agavoides 'Blue Dragon' is a succulent that requires 6 hours of direct or bright indirect light per day to maintain its favorable morphology and health. In full sun, the leaves of this succulent will deepen and may develop candy hearts. However, if there is not enough light, the leaves will become greener. It is important to avoid strong direct light during summers to prevent sunburn. The ideal temperature range for Echeveria Agavoides 'Blue Dragon' is 50-70°F, and it should be kept indoors during winter months when temperatures drop below 40°F as they are not resistant to cold temperatures.
Soil/Watering: For your Echeveria Agavoides 'Blue Dragon' plant, you can use a loose and airy medium such as peat/coconut coir or a soil preparation with a higher percentage of granular soil. When the soil in the pot is dry, you can water it. One way to water your plant is to use the bottom watering method. Find a container with a large opening and moderate depth that can hold water, then put the potted plant inside it. The soil will draw water from the container through the hole in the bottom of the pot until the surface of the potting soil is moist.
It's important to note that during summer, Echeveria Agavoides 'Blue Dragon' is prone to black rotting water. So, you need to pay extra attention to prevent waterlogging and cut off the water if the temperature gets too high.
Pot: It is not necessary to have specific pot requirements for this plant, except for proper drainage. Therefore, it is essential to have drainage holes in the pot. As it does not have a stem, it blooms from the side of the flower and gradually becomes more prominent. Hence, it is advisable to select a pot with a larger diameter.
Propagation: Leaf propagation, cutting propagation, and division will work well for Echeveria Agavoides 'Blue Dragon.' Propagation by beheading is done by removing a layer of leaves in the middle of the succulent layer of leaves, cutting off the top half of the head with clean scissors or a razor blade, drying the wound, and then propagating the plant.
Fertilization: Spring and fall are the growing seasons for Echeveria Agavoides 'Blue Dragon,', and it will be more vigorous and grow faster, so it will need water and nutrients. You can give it a diluted fertilizer in late fall.
