Crassula Deceptor is named for its appearance, which resembles small stones. Its leaves are thick, covered with a prominent layer of farina, and have a rough texture. The leaves grow tightly arranged in layers, resembling a small white tower. Due to its compact size, Crassula Deceptor is ideal for small pot planting, making it suitable for tabletop decoration.

How to care for Crassula Deceptor (4 inch)

Sunlight: Crassula Deceptor is native to South Africa and thrives in bright sunlight. In the morning, place it where it can avoid direct sunlight, then move to bright indirect light from noon onwards. If it stays in one spot, ensure it receives bright indirect light. During hot summers, Crassula Deceptor may go dormant or semi-dormant; ensure it's in a well-ventilated, cool place with reduced watering. In winter, provide extra sunlight to maintain warmth.

Temperature: Crassula Deceptor prefers temperatures between 65- 85°F. During winter, keep the environment above 40°F (4°C). If temperatures exceed 85°F (29°C) in summer, place Crassula Deceptor in a ventilated area to cool down.

Soil/Pot: Crassula Deceptor requires loose, fertile soil with good drainage. Use a mix of one part peat moss, one part garden soil, and two parts coarse sand or perlite. Choose a moderately sized pot with sufficient drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.

Watering: Succulents like Crassula Deceptor prefer watering only when the soil is arid. If its leaves turn reddish-brown and wrinkled, it's usually a sign of dehydration, and watering may be necessary. Reduce watering frequency significantly in summer and winter.

Propagation: Crassula Deceptor propagates well through beheading:
1. Select a healthy Crassula Deceptor plant as the mother plant.
2. Use a clean knife to make a horizontal cut about 1-1.5 inches (3-4 cm) below the top of the plant.
3. Place the cut section in a well-ventilated area to air dry for 2-3 days.
4. Carefully transplant the dried cutting into succulent soil.
5. Position in bright, indirect light with partial shade.
6. Lightly mist the soil once a week to keep it lightly moist.
7. New roots should begin to grow within approximately 20-30 days, indicating successful propagation.

Fertilization: During the spring to autumn, fertilize Crassula Deceptor monthly with diluted succulent fertilizer. Cease fertilization during winter when Crassula Deceptor typically enters dormancy or slows growth.

In general, it takes 3 to 10 days for plants to arrive after you place your order. All orders will be shipped out 48 hours after you place them. We ship the orders on work days(from Monday to Saturday) and all year round. In normal conditions, it will take 3-10 days for you to receive the package. Estimated shipping times are offered as needed.

HOLIDAYS: During weeks in which a holiday occurs - Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, etc. - shipping may be delayed until the following week.

EXTREME WEATHER NOTICE: The Next Gardener reserves the right to hold shipments during storms or periods of extreme heat or cold. This is to ensure your plant does not suffer while it is in transit.

Winter shipping

We insist on shipping succulents to our customers all year round. However due to the extreme winter weather, although we pack succulents with as much protective material as possible, plants are still at increased risk of frost on their way to colder areas. We highly recommend adding one 72-hour heat pack to your order or you can request a hold on the package until it warms up.

Please note that The Next Gardener is not responsible for packages that suffer cold damage without a heat pack. We cannot control the weather. Order at your own risk.

Hawaii, Alaska, and Other US Territories

Fortunately, shipping is available to Alaska, Guam, and other U.S. Territories. However, due to numerous factors beyond our control, including customs checks and shipping delays, free shipping to Hawaii and Puerto Rico is not an option. And we can not provide the 14-day quality guarantee for orders going to Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The buyer will assume all risk of damage when a delivery is delayed. We appreciate your understanding.
