Whether placed alone in a pot or hanging in a basket, it can add a touch of soft color and vitality to the home space.
How to care for Ceropegia woodiif. variegata /String of Heart Variegata (6 inch)
Sun/Temperature: The color will be brilliant in full sunlight. It can usually be placed in indirect light, but if placed outdoors then special care should be taken to avoid sun exposure during the summer. It grows between 65°F and 80°F . It can adapt to different temperatures, but do not expose it to temperatures below 40°F and above 85°F for long periods of time or suddenly.
Soil/Fertilizer: It is necessary to choose a well-drained and permeable soil, for example, a mixture of granular and peat soil, to which you can add a small amount of organic fertilizer. Fertilizer can be applied 3-4 times in a year, but it needs to be in small amounts.
Watering: You can use soak and dry watering method to water it. Since it has larger bases called caudex that store water for it for a long period of time, you don't need to overwater it and overwatering can lead to plant root rot and other moisture related problems.
Pests and Diseases: Common pests include mealybugs and aphids. When encountering mealybugs you can gently rub the mealybugs off the affected area of the plant with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. When encountering aphids you can use a strong stream of water from a hose to rinse the aphids from the plant and spray neem oil on the affected area to ensure thorough coverage of the aphids.
Pot: To keep the soil dry, you also need to consider clay pots with drainage holes when choosing a planter. styling For you can choose a hanging basket planter to suspend the pot, or a taller planter to allow its stems to spread downward.
Trimming: Without breaking its stems, you can trim the trailing stems to make them more compact. You also cultivate stems using support structures such as trellises or moss poles to create specific shapes or patterns.
Propagation: Ceropegia woodiif. variegata is an easy succulent to propagate and can be propagated using leaves. The steps are: select mature, healthy leaves and gently insert the lower end of the leaf into the soil, burying it about an inch. Water gently after inserting the leaf, making sure the soil is moist but not overly saturated and not pouring water directly onto the leaf.
